That's Fierce. Bits of our lawn are finally starting to peek through the snow. It's exciting (no, really), but of course more snow is coming tomorrow. I can't tell from the weather report whether we're in the 1-3 inch band or the 3-5 inch band. Either way it blows, but the snow is supposed to turn to rain and so hopefully there won't be anything to shovel. Fingers crossed. I started reading The Power Broker by Robert A. Caro. That book is massive. I spent my entire lunch break reading the prologue alone. This book has been on my to-read list for years and I finally decided to go for it. It's not the kind of book I can read before I go to bed, however; it's more like the kind of book I need to read at the dining room table with a highlighter and a notepad. Whatever. I'm going to enjoy it and it can't be worse than the last book I read. The Truth Catcher by Anna Salter. PURE GRADE A CRAP. Consider that warning my good deed for the day. Speaking of crap books, I broke down and checked out John Grisham's latest from the library tonight. I don't think I've read anything of his since The Jury or whatever it's called. I read a decent review of his new book and thought "what the hell"- I better not be wasting my time with it. My mood has been foul of late- internally foul, I'm trying to keep up appearances- so here is a list of Good Things to cheer myself up: 1. Shea Stadium in May- my first (and last, since it's being torn down) visit there. 2. Montreal in June. June 21 marks five years of wedded bliss. 3. August visit of one of my dearest friends. 4. August again: my mom and stepdad come out. 5. The Janets (and Manjets). My online discussion group can kick the ass of your online discussion group any day. Bring it! 6. Nellie the cat...hold that thought: That damn cat has been rustling around in the litter box for about ten minutes and now she just shot up the stairs. That's never a good sign. I guess I should act like a responsible pet owner and go clean up whatever mess she most likely just shat out. When she runs away like that, I know it's bound to be bad. 6. |
