Blank. We went to the library today so that I could return a stack of books. As we came up to a stop light, we noticed a mom and her two small boys on the side of the road. The roads were slushy from all of the snow and ice we got last night and the sidewalk had apparently not been shoveled, forcing the woman and the kids to slip and slide on the edge of the street. Okay, fine. My problem with the scene was the fact that the woman was at least 10 paces ahead of the smallest boy, who didn't even look like he was 3 years old. She was too busy cradling her 30-pack of cheap swill to notice that her baby was struggling to keep up and kept slipping closer to traffic. The driver of the truck in front of us stopped at the light, scooched over to his passenger window and proceded to tell that woman what he thought of her. Her response? To look blankly at him and then yell at the little one for not paying attention. I just sat there and waited for the light to change. I wanted to throw the door open and scoop him up, but I just sat there. The light changed, and we drove on. |
