San Jose is less than three weeks away. Wow. I'm nervous about meeting a bunch of women in person for the first time, but I have a good track record when it comes to meeting online people in real life. I've met many and haven't had a bad experience yet, so I shouldn't worry too much about the 10 Cakes crew. It's amazing how a random group of women (and a stray man or three) with such different life experiences can come together in one place (in this case, a Flickr group) and bond so well. So, yeah... San Jose is gonna be good.

I'm plowing through my reading list and am pleased with the books I've chosen so far. Only one clunker in the bunch lately, The Pesthouse by Jim Crace. I had high hopes when I read the jacket copy, but I just couldn't get into the story. I'm almost done with More Home Cooking by Laurie Colwin, and my love for her writing grows with each new chapter finished. Not only do I need to get my own copies of her books, but I also need to start writing down the cookbooks she references. I'm filled with a desire to make shortbread right now, but I think I only have salted butter on hand.

Brian is going in sometime this week to get a semen analysis done. There was a lot of run-around from his doctor's office about this on Friday, but I (hope) all has been resolved. He'll do his thing most likely on Wednesday and won't have to wait long to find out the results. Here's hoping he's not shooting blanks. He's not exactly looking forward to it, but he knows it's just another step in the process.
