This falls under the category of Getting Shit Done.

If I ever meet the person who invented wallpaper, I cannot be held responsible for any violence I may commit against said person.

Our house is covered in multiple layers of wallpaper. Fortunately, the most recent layer is offwhite and kinda looks like paint (untill you get up close to it). I would so totally paint over it, but Brian convinced me a while back not to be that asshole. My bitter, lazy heart agreed and so we began working in one of the bedrooms. To say that turned into a depressing nightmare is an understatement. We threw our hands up in the air, backed out of the room, quietly shut the door and have not done a damn thing in there since.

There are things we need to do to get the house ready to sell, one of which is obviously finish that room. However, there is also the living room to deal with. If you click on the picture link to the right, it will take you to my woefully neglected Flickr site. There is a picture of the living room in various de-carpeting stages. As you can see, the prior owner inexplicably put up a lighthouse border in the room. It needs to come down and the only way is to strip the entire room.

So...today we started. And lo, it is a pain in the ass. I will post pictures of the nastiness soon, but trust me when I tell you it's bad. So far, we've uncovered some unsightly cracks in the plaster, but that should be easy enough to fix. It's going to take us a while to get this room in shape, but I have to say that it feels good to start taking care of it.

Tangent. I have a headache. I don't know if it's from realizing just how much work it's going to take to get rid of the wallpaper or if there is some sort of deadly dust in the paper itself. Lovely! Asbestos, anyone?
